As every year in June, this month it is the famous Adopt-A-Cat Month among the many cat shelters and cat protection organisations worldwide.
Adopt versus Flood
June is known to be the month when cat shelters and animal protection organisations worldwide are promoting the adopt-a-cat campaign. They have shelters full of animals that need urgently a new home.
In the same time, June is also one of the many months in a year that these same shelters and animal protection organistions get flooded with new kittens and cats.
Holidays
People going on holidays and dumping their cat ‘back in nature’ or simply in front of the door at one of the many organisations worldwide is very common practice. I don’t understand that people can get away and have this sort of action on their conscious.
Kittens Born
Its also the time that lots of cats that are not spayed or neutered, will cause a lot of new kitten nests everywhere. It is therefore that the animal protection organisation uses these summer months to promote a cheaper deal on neutering or spaying your cat. There are many benefits in neutering or spaying your cat, one of them being that these animal organisations will be able to adopt more cats and help more urgent new projects.
Adopt Your Next Cat!
We have adopted many cats in the past. The most recent adoption was Felicia. She used to be a dumped feral cat and now is the most cuddly cat of them all. Too often I hear that people say they cannot teach an old cat. Or they are not willing to pay for all the health bills to get the cat back to health.
Luckily a lot of love and care will get a long way and not all cats in need of adoption are asking for more then just that. Only a couple of cats need a bit more specific animal protection.
Don’t Adopt Or Get A New Cat If You Cannot Take Care Of One
If you however cannot take care of a cat. Or are one of those that dump cats either on animal organisations or in nature, then consider not bothering adopting or getting a new cat. For these cats need lots of love and care that you will have to be able to provide.
