Are you bored cleaning out your cat litter box with a regular sifting scoop each day? With a Sifting Cat Litter Box, cleaning cat litter is going to be super fast and easy for you. In 3 easy steps clumps are separated through a sifting pan from the dirty box into a clean litter box, where after you can continue with your day!
Who is this for?
The Arm & Hammer Sifting Cat Litter Box is for people that are fed up spending countless of hours manually scooping away the produce in the cat litter box.
We got at the moment 7 cats in our household, of which two are in foster care and are usually separate from the others. Having so many cats, we do also have very many litter boxes to clean. This comes down to 8 litter boxes by the litter box standard. With so many cats living under one roof, you can imagine the amount of scooping we have to do every day.
We tried out the Sifting Cat Litter Box by Arm & Hammer to see if it would reduce the amount of time we spend on cleaning the various boxes. The box is not big enough to be used by more than 1 cat, so for our 7 cats, we would need to replace the 8 boxes we have with 8 Arm & Hammer Sifting Cat Litter Boxes.
We tried it out with just one box, as we could try it out on just the foster cats alone this way.
Arm & Hammer Sifting Cat Litter Box
The Arm & Hammer Sifting Cat Litter Box is the ideal solution for people that want to get the cat litter box clean in only a couple of minutes. You will still have the smells and dust, but it will be done in a shake and you can continue with your day as usual, but much faster.

Clean!
With the Sifting Cat Litter Box it is now possible to complete the tedious cleaning job in just a simple single shake. Gone are the days of spending lots of time on scooping and sifting every scoop of litter. It is a smelly and dusty experience we would rather do without or at least be quickly done with.
Main Features
Easy And Fast Cleaning
Cleaning the litter in the litter box is going to be super fast and easy, because instead of a tiny scoop, you now have a scoop the size of the entire litter box. It will require just a few shakes and everything is ready for the next day.
There are some requirements for the best effect:
- High Quality Clumping Cat Litter
- Correct Order In Cleaning Procedure
High Quality Clumping Cat Litter
The sifting cat litter box works only well with a high quality clumping cat litter. The many non-clumping cat litters and the more natural litters will simply fall through the siff or a more general sticky mess will stick to every part of the box.
This litter box was designed by Arm & Hammer, which is a producer of high quality cat litter and it would be more than natural to use their cat litter for this box. Be sure to .
We do not have the luxury of being able to get the cat litter from them, so we buy the second best clumping cat litter brand Tidy Cats.

Correct Order In Cleaning Procedure
Doing as much as one step wrong and you end up cleaning everything, so it is essential to do the cleaning in the right order, but do not fret, it’s really easy to do the cleanup with this box. You got 1 box with litter and clumped produce, 1 empty box and 1 filtering siff.
What you want is that the siffed litter ends up in the empty box and the dirty clumps stay behind in the filter/sifting pan.
One Sifter, Two Boxes
The Sifting Cat Litter Box is a litter box of medium size that comes with three elements. One sifter and two litter boxes for storing and the shifting job. Below I will highlight every feature of this product and how to work with it.
Extends Litter Lifespan
Because you use clumping cat litter and because you clean it fairly easy with this box, you will see you will have more clean litter in the box than when you would do this with a typical manual scooping job. This is not because you cannot be just as efficient with a scoop, because you can, but because you will generally feel tired of sifting every scoop properly that you might be throwing away a lot of good cat litter in a hurry.
The longer you can use the same litter, the better for your wallet. Do however keep in mind that when the litter starts smelling or gets very dusty it is definitely time to change the litter in the litter box entirely.
No Hard To Understand Construction
There are cat litter boxes out there that require a sifting pan below the cat litter, which you sift out while you move all the boxes around for a complete cleanup. The problem is that cats often dig down deep before they do their business on their “toilet”.
So cats dig down to the sifting pan and end up leaving a sticky mess directly on this surface. Now you’re sifting pan is dirty and doesn’t function as well when you have to do your clean-out.
The Arm & Hammer Sifting Litter box doesn’t have this extra requirement and has a simple method of sifting and cleaning out the clumps from the cat litter once it needs to be cleaned. The sifting pan and clean pan stay both clean for the job at hand.
Correct Method Of Cleaning Out
To clean out the litter box most efficiently, you need to do the cleaning out in a certain order. If you mess up, you could end up with less litter in the box, or litter on your floors.
As you might figure from the instructions below, it is really easy to do it right.
- Remove sifting pan and second litter box from below the used litter box. Alternatively you could store these two boxes elsewhere until you need to do a cleaning job.
- Place clean and empty litter box on the floor, place sifting pan in the empty litter box.
- Add (bit by bit) the litter from the dirty litter box and sift it out.
- Remove the clumps from the sifting pan and dispose
- Afterwards you can either place the sifter back in the now empty litter box and place both below the new litter box for storage or store elsewhere. Fill up the top litter box with new litter if required.
Step 3 and 4 can be repeated until all the litter of the old pan have been sifted in the new box. Depending on whether something liquid did enter the sifter or old litter box, you might have to wipe or scrub it clean with a cloth or a scoop. You can dispose the clumping produce easiest with the Genie Litter Garbage Container.
Because cat litter is generally dusty and litter box use adds a lot of bacteria, it would be a good idea to clean all three boxes at least once a month. We do so too with all our litter boxes at the complete clean-out date.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How Do You Use This Pan If It Only Has One Sifter?
A: Unlike other sifting cat litter boxes, the Arm & Hammer Sifting Cat Litter Box comes with only one sifting pan. The clue here, is that you do not put the sifting and empty litter box together with the litter box with litter in it. You only use the empty one and the sifting pan when you want to clean this box out.
The empty pan is to be sifted into, while the clumps stay in the sifting pan. The clumps are to be disposed off before putting the boxes together again.
It is usually not much of use to put the sifting pan in the litter box with litter, because cats usually dig down before doing their business and that will only create mess on you’re sifting pan.
Q: Can The Litter Box Be Used For Two Cats?
A: While the general rule of thumb is to have the amount of cats +1 in amount of cat litter boxes (which essentially is a total of 3 boxes for 2 cats), you could probably use this litter box in a 2-cat household. It just requires you to clean it often, as this litter box is not the biggest around.
Since sifting it out is an easy job with this litter box, it shouldn’t be a problem to sift the litter twice a day for two cats.
Q: What Are The Dimensions Of This Box?
A: The box total size is at 48 x 38.6 x 20 centimeters or 18.8 x 15.2 x 7.9 inches.
Conclusion
We really loved the Sifting Cat Litter Box by Arm & Hammer and are planning to replace the old boxes with multiple of these boxes.
With the Sifting Cat Litter Box it is now possible to complete the tedious cleaning job in just a simple single shake. Gone are the days of spending lots of time on scooping and sifting every scoop of litter. It is a smelly and dusty experience we would rather do without or at least be quickly done with.
The result is a clean litter box, a clean smelling house and a cat that is proud to have a clean litter box!
That’s such a smart and simple concept. I’m surprised that it has taken so long for someone to come up with the design. It would be great if they put out a larger size for households with more than one cat. Perhaps, in time.
Do you find that this litter box would help with eliminating the little clay cat prints that sometimes show up on my dark floors?
Thanks for the review. I had idea that such a litter box was available on the market.
Hi Sonya,
The Arm and Hammer Sifting Cat Litter Box is indeed a very smart and simple concept. Unfortunately is the Sifting box (too) small and probably only meant for one or two cats in your household. We got 7 cats, so you can guess how many sifting boxes we would have needed (8). We tested only one box, so we still use our old cat litter boxes too. A larger sifting pan would certainly have helped in that situation. I haven’t seen any of good enough quality that were bigger.
You are seeing clay cat prints? That means there paws have been wet and the clay sticks to their paws and make a mess on your floors. I have seen this as well. I didn’t see it anymore when I stopped using the clay-based litter. We switched to Blue Natural Fresh Cat Litter, which is a litter that absorbs smells and fluids way better than clay litter and also doesn’t track as bad as most litters.
